Some of my mural work at Bathurst Open Air Pool, Lydney, Gloucestershire

I live in Brockhollands, a hamlet near Lydney, where I share a studio with my husband, Stuart, also an artist. I am happy to see visitors – please phone first. I have been working and exhibiting for 25 years, during which time I have tackled a wide range of subjects in different media. Overall (with the exception of my mural works) I prefer working in oils. Some favourite subjects of mine include: landscapes; life-drawing/painting; abstracts; dilapidated buildings and dramatic skyscapes/cloud formations. I am also particularly and increasingly inspired by water-related subjects: seascapes; riverscapes; shells and starfish; ripples and reflections and also marine life. I derive a great sense of satisfaction creating murals and enjoy the challenge of tackling large scale designs, sometimes working in the open air, trying to achieve the same luminosity and subtlety of colour with masonry paint on porous brick walls as I would with artists’ oil pigments, on fine grain canvas. I enjoy working in 3D, too and make decorative mirrors, using ‘found objects’ such as shells and other flotsam and jetsam. I also make decorative papier maché masks and greetings cards.

Materials and Media: Oils; acrylics; watercolours; pastels; papier mache (for decorative mirrors); emulsions and masonry paint for mural work.
